Many will remember the campaign that followed Ai Weiwei’s arrest in 2011, not only throughout the blogosphere diplomatic channels and using querilla street art methods, but also by museums and institutions around the world, who hung banners out for the world to see and raise awareness.
This documentary follows his life, work and activism from 2009 until shortly after his release in 2011.

I’m not sure how this has managed to pass me by and be into it’s third season, but there is an American series which showcases different museums around America. Alas, they seem to be only accessible on Hulu, so not ideal for non US citizens but no doubt a quick search will turn up alternative sources.
